EVER WONDER HOW ‘WOW’ PROPHET MUHAMMAD WAS AS A YOUTH?

[Prophet Muhammad – The Youthsetter: Series 1/3]

The birthday of one great man, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is around the corner! But what use is celebrating an icon’s birthday without taking a glimpse at his contributions and great moments, especially in his youthful ‘trang tang tang’ time?

We compiled some great moments of Prophet Muhammad during his youth for you to wow at (and become like him, hopefully):

1. AN EXCELLENT MORAL YOUNG MAN LIKE NO OTHER

From his youth, people realised that Muhammad was different. They admired him for his trustworthy, bravery and noble characters such that people called him “al-Amin” (the trustworthy). It suited his name, Muhammad, the praiseworthy.

Even after becoming a prophet, the disbelievers of Islam still left their belongings with him for safekeeping.

2. A TRAINED, SKILLED ENTREPRENEUR

The renowned lady of entrepreneurship, Khadijah, selected young Muhammad to manage her business. That’s how capable and trustworthy he was. Mind you, the business deals weren’t anything small, and he was only 25 years old!

Muhammad had been trained for this since he was 12. By the time he was 17, he’d already been to Jordan, Iraq, Bahrain and Yemen for trading.

3. A YOUNG LEADER AND PROBLEM SOLVER

As a youth, Muhammad played an active role in the League of Virtue (Hilf al-Fudul). The league promoted peace in society and prevention of war.

Also, Makkah was once flooded and Kaabah had to be rebuilt. The tribes of Makkah were quarrelling with  one another over the right to place the Hajarul Aswad back to its spot. Because they had reached dead end, they decided that they have to seek the entrusted 35-year-old Muhammad to make a judgment, and he solved it in a way that honoured all tribes in completing the task.

Thank you, Prophet Muhammad, for showing that the age of youth can be an age of brilliant character, great competency, and wise conflict management.
