WHAT DID PROPHET MUHAMMAD SAY TO THE PRECIOUS YOUTHS LIKE YOU?
[Prophet Muhammad – The Youthsetter: Series 3/3]Throughout this series, we’ve learned that Prophet Muhammad was an iconic youth, and he also empowered and entrusted the youths of his time with important roles.
At this final celebratory post of his birthday, we are eager to leave you with a memorable gift. It is what Prophet Muhammad had said about youths that we ardently believe you should know:
1. SEIZE AND NOT WASTE – THE PERIOD YOUTHHOOD.
Prophet Muhammad reminded us to seize five before five, and one of them was the youth age before the old age comes. (Sahih by al-Albani)
The age of youth is the golden age to do good and change the world; so do it!
2. GROW IN DEVOTION TO ALLAH.
The Prophet specifically listed youths who are devoted to Allah to be among the seven categories of people who are protected under the shade of Allah in the Day of Judgment (Sahih Muslim).
During our youth, we’ll be exposed to numerous straying ideologies, identities and challenges. Therefore, kudos to those who stick with Allah through all those trying times!
3. DON’T ALLOW YOURSELVES TO BE USED FOR THE WRONG PURPOSE.
Being the Prophet’s favoured youth, Usamah bin Zayd was asked to negotiate with Prophet Muhammad, on behalf of Fatima, a Quraish woman, who had committed theft. The Prophet replied to Usamah, “Do you intercede regarding one of the punishments prescribed by Allah? By Allah, if Fatima, (daughter of Muhammad), were to steal, I would have her hand cut off.” (Sahih Muslim)
The Prophet meant to warn Usamah not to be a tool in the hands of wrongdoers.
